Help with Health Care

Beginning January 1, 2014, you and your family will have many new health insurance options available through the Individual Marketplace.  You can quickly compare health plan options and apply for assistance that could lower the cost of health coverage.  Individuals and families may also qualify for free or low-cost coverage from Medicaid or Child Health Plus through the Marketplace.  Anyone who needs health coverage can apply.

Individuals and families can sign up for a health plan from OCTOBER 1, 2013 to MARCH 31, 2014.  Coverage can begin as early as JANUARY 1, 2014.

Eligibility requirements and the availability of existing plans such as Medicaid, Child Health Plus and Family Health Plus are changing.  Eligibility for some plans is expanding, while others will no longer be offered next year.   In addition, individuals who do not enroll in health insurance for 2014 will pay a fee with their taxes.

CAP partners with a variety of organizations to connect you to people trained to explain the changes to plans you may already be enrolled in, show you your options for next year, and walk you through the sign up process if you choose to sign up for a plan.  We encourage every individual and family with or without insurance to connect to one of these resources and ask to talk about health insurance for 2014.
