Community Action Partnership Announces 17th Annual Mother’s and Father’s Day Appeal

Madison County, NY— Our parents give us life, love, guidance, and encouragement.  This Spring, instead of buying flowers to honor your loved ones, Community Action Partnership (CAP) invites you to pay it forward by passing on the hope and support that your caregivers have given you.

In our own county, many of our friends and neighbors lack a family support system.  All too often, this means limited support and resources to overcome life challenges like parenthood, unemployment and tight budgets.  That’s where CAP comes in.

CAP provides opportunities for individuals and families to realize their strengths, make good choices, and become self sufficient.  It is a place where people in need are listened to and given an opportunity to help themselves find short-term relief and support for long-term stability.  Whenever you give a gift to CAP, you give a gift of hope to a local family in need of your
caring support.

When you make a donation in the name of a mom or dad as part of CAP's Mother’s and Father’s Day Appeal, the agency will send him or her an original card on your behalf.  This year artwork from third graders at South Side Elementary in Canastota is features on the front. Inside, each card includes a special Mother’s or Father’s Day message explaining that you have given a gift of hope to a local family in honor of that parent’s gift of love and care.

Here is what your generosity can do:

  • $30 can help 3 local dads to attend a fatherhood skills workshop through our fatherhood advocacy program.
  • $60 can provide one month of home visiting and educational services to a new mom or dad.
  • $120 can provide a week of food and budgeting services for a family of four.
  • $240 can help a struggling household maintain their heating utilities during the winter.

Each Mother’s and Father’s Day, we have a chance to honor our childhood caregivers with messages of thanks and gratitude for the love and support that helped us become who we are today.  If you would like to make a gift in honor or memory of a parent or caregiver who is important in your life or the lives of others, please call 315-684-3144 or donate online (please note who you would like to honor in the purpose field).  You will be giving the gift of hope!
