Introducing "CAP Academy"

CAP Academy
Where Academics and Play Meet!
Let's gear up for the new school year together!  We invite your child to join us for one of our 
Saturday classes as we learn, play, create and have fun together.  Children have the opportunity
to spend a few hours with instructors as they learn, explore, and get ready to head back to school.

Classes are held at our Canastota Office - 1001 New Market Drive, Canastota
Each class is from 9 am - 12 noon
Cost: $30 an individual, $50 for 2 family members

Date: Saturday August 15th

Open to Adults and Children

Beginnings level class to introduce families into the are of Geo-Caching, a nationwide treasure hunting program using the geocache app on smartphone or GPS.

Children of all ages learn compass skills and GPS navigation.

Class Requirements: GPS Navigational system or smartphone.

Instructor:  Lenny Giardino is the program manager for Healthy Families Program and is a certified public educator & administrator.

Registration Deadline:  August 7th

Minimum class attendance: 6
The Buzz on Science

Date: Saturday August 22nd

Open to Children 7-12 years old

Join our mad scientist, Buzzy Dale for a day of exploration.  If your child is interested in learning about; glowing pickles, giant magnets, elephant toothpaste and many more fun and interactive science experiments, this class is for you!

Instructor: Buzzy (George Dale) is a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a BS in Chemistry and a graduate of the University of Arizona with a MS in Material Science and Engineering.  He is a New York Certified teacher in Math, Physic and Chemistry.

Registration Deadline: August 14th

Minimum class attendance: 6
Global Awareness

Date: Saturday August 29th

Open to Children 7-12 years old

Learn how to make a pinata and understand the origins of the pinata and Mexican culture - food and music to be incorporated into this session.

Instructor: Bethany Hawkinson, a CAP staff member since 2012 in the Healthy Families Program, a Child Development Specialist and has an extraordinary interest in arts & crafts.
