Wolf Oak Acres Farm Hosts Mentoring Activity

Oneida, NY—Wolf Oak Acres Farm on Creek Road in Oneida may be the newest agri-tourism business in the area, but they are already giving back to the community.  On Saturday, October 18, the new “hands on” farm hosted a group activity for Community Action Partnership’s Mentoring Program. Twenty four mentors and their pre-teen and teenage mentees discovered that Wolf Acres is more than your average pumpkin farFredrick (12m as they enjoyed a day of hayrides, cattle roping, corn cob cannons, pig races, mining and many other unique and fun filled games.

photoThe exciting activities and spectacular landscape guaranteed a good time for mentors and mentees alike, but what made the day truly special was the hands-on involvement of Wolf Oak Acres owners Russell and Katrina Blanchard, who opened their farm and their hearts to the kids.  The Blanchards run their farm with the community in mind and have many exciting plans for the future, including making the farm and its treasures more accessible to people in wheel chairs and other special needs.

“CAP would like to thank the Blanchard family for being so present during the day and making sure everyone had a good time,” says Mentoring Program Coordinator JoAnne Morak.

“They’re a great example of the willingness of our community to come together and provide opportunities for children to have fun and learn.”

Community Action Partnership for Madison County's Mentoring Program is funded in part from the Office of Children and Family Services Youth Development Fund, BRiDGES Drug Free Community Fund, Madison County Department of Social Services, and the United Way of Greater Oneida.  For more information on Mentorin and other programs, please visit our website at www.capmadco.org.
